Sultanate, Italy discuss ties

MUSCAT: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received at the Council of Ministers headquarters on Sunday Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy. At the beginning of the meeting, Giuseppe Conte conveyed the greetings of the Italian President Sergio Mattarella and the Italian government to His Majesty the Sultan, and their good wishes to His Majesty and the government of Oman and the Omani people for further progress and development.


HH Sayyid Fahd conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the Sultan and his good wishes to the Italian leadership and the friendly Italian people for further progress and prosperity. HH Sayyid Fahd praised the growing relations between the two countries and the development witnessed for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.


Conversations during the meeting dealt with the means of supporting bilateral cooperation in many fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. On his part, the Italian prime minister said that his visit is to develop the friendly relations between the two countries.


He said that his country welcomes the joint cooperation between the two sides. He praised the balanced policy adopted by the Sultanate, which earned it the respect and appreciation of all. The meeting was attended by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas, Federica Favi, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate, and the delegation accompanying the Italian prime minister.


Prime Minister Conte left Muscat on Sunday. The Italian PM and his accompanying delegation were seen off by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas, Federica Favi, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate and members of the Embassy. — ONA
