Sultanate elected member of IOC Executive Council

PARIS: The Sultanate has been elected as member of the Executive Council of Unesco’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) during the 29th general assembly of the IOC which was held in Paris.


The Sultanate’s delegation at the IOC general assembly was led by Dr Samira bint Mohammed al Moosa, the Sultanate’s permanent representative to the Unesco who delivered a speech during the meeting in which she confirmed the Sultanate’s commitment to oceanographic. She also pointed out to the Omani achievements in the field of multi-hazard early warning underscoring the importance of international and regional cooperation in the purviews and scope of work of the IOC.


Dr Juma bin Said al Maskari, Director-General of Meteorology at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation represents the Sultanate at the IOC’s Executive Council.
