Kuala Lumpur: Kuala Lumpur launched the second phase of its mass rapid transit (MRT) train system on Monday, which is expected to carry 400,000 passengers daily. Speaking at the launch of the new line at a station in the Malaysian capital, Prime Minister Najib Razak announced a cut of 50 per cent on fares on all the city’s train lines from Tuesday until the end of August, independent news portal Malaysiakini reported. The fare cut is in celebration of Malaysia’s 60th National Day on August 31. — dpa
