MUSCAT, NOV 8
Nizwa and Seeb recorded further victories in the 2026-27 Under-17 Basketball League, with Nizwa edging Saham 49-45 and Seeb cruising past Bahla 51-17 at Seeb Club’s indoor arena.
The opening match produced a closely contested battle in which both teams enjoyed periods of control before Nizwa protected their advantage during a tense final quarter.
Saham made the stronger start and held a narrow 11-10 lead at the end of the opening period. Nizwa responded decisively in the second quarter, raising their attacking intensity and making better use of their scoring opportunities.
An 18-point return, combined with a disciplined defensive performance that restricted Saham to six, enabled Nizwa to overturn the early deficit and enter the half-time break with a 28-17 advantage.
Saham improved after the interval and began to reduce the gap. They outscored Nizwa 11-5 in the third quarter, taking advantage of a decline in their opponents’ offensive output. Nizwa nevertheless remained ahead 33-28 going into the final period.
The fourth quarter delivered the most intense spell of the contest as Saham increased their attacking pressure in search of a comeback. They scored 17 points during the period, but Nizwa responded with 16 and held their nerve in the closing stages to secure a hard-earned 49-45 victory.
Omar al Rashdi, Wael Ambusaidi and Hamza al Bari were among Nizwa’s leading performers, while Abdulrahman al Rashdi and Said al Farsi spearheaded Saham’s attacking efforts.
SEEB DOMINATE BAHLA
Seeb encountered few difficulties in the second match as they controlled proceedings from the opening quarter and completed a commanding 51-17 victory over Bahla.
Their attacking efficiency and organised defensive structure prevented Bahla from establishing any sustained rhythm. Seeb opened a 16-4 lead in the first quarter before adding another 12 points in the second. Bahla scored seven during that period, leaving Seeb firmly in control at 28-11 by half-time.
Seeb maintained their intensity after the break, pressing forward and limiting their opponents’ opportunities around the basket. They won the third quarter 13-4 to extend their advantage to 41-15.
There was no change in the pattern during the final period as Seeb added another 10 points while restricting Bahla to two, sealing an emphatic 51-17 victory.
Anas al Mabsali and Qais al Kharousi led Seeb’s attacking display, while Wahab al Harthi was among Bahla’s most prominent offensive players.
