Further demonstrating its focus on advancing banking through technology, innovation and customer-centric digital solutions, Sohar International has been recognised with the ‘National Excellence in Digital First Banking’ award at OERLive DX Oman 2026. Held under the auspices of Eng. Badr bin Salem Al Maamari, Chairman of the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority, and in the presence of Sheikh Salim bin Mustahail al Mashani, the event brought together industry leaders and experts to explore emerging technologies and strategies shaping the future of businesses and financial services.

The recognition reflects the Bank’s continued efforts to strengthen its technological capabilities and develop secure, scalable digital infrastructure that responds to the evolving needs of individuals and businesses, while supporting Oman’s broader digital transformation ambitions.

Commenting on the recognition, Sajeel Bashiruddin, Chief Technology & Digital Officer at Sohar International, said: “The future of banking will be shaped by how effectively financial institutions translate technological progress into meaningful outcomes for customers, businesses and the wider economy. At Sohar International, we are focused on developing digital capabilities that combine security, scalability and intelligent solutions with a deep understanding of evolving financial needs. This means taking a holistic approach to innovation, ensuring that our systems, data and digital channels work together to deliver greater convenience, improve operational effectiveness and support informed decision-making. We view this recognition as an endorsement of our direction and a motivation to continue advancing our capabilities, challenging conventional approaches and helping shape a financial ecosystem that is equipped to support Oman’s next phase of economic development.”

Further contributing to the national dialogue on digital advancement, Sohar International participated in the panel discussion, ‘Building Digital Rails for Oman’s Future’, featuring Assad bin Salim al Shabibi, EVP and Head of IT at Sohar International. The discussion explored the role of robust digital infrastructure, seamless technological integration and innovation in enabling the next generation of financial services. It also examined how resilient and scalable digital frameworks can strengthen connectivity across sectors, support business agility and create the foundations for broader economic participation in an increasingly technology-driven environment.
