The Sultanate of Oman explored renewable energy and hydrogen investment partnerships with Singapore during a visit by Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, to Singapore International Energy Week.
Al Aufi held talks with Dr Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, the chief executive of the Energy Market Authority and executives from Singaporean energy companies.
Discussions covered investment opportunities, renewable energy and hydrogen infrastructure, and the development of related supply chains. The visit aimed to strengthen economic ties, attract investment and support the exchange of expertise.
Addressing the summit, Al Aufi said open markets and uninterrupted energy trade were essential to supply security and the resilience of the global energy system.
Reliable international partnerships help maintain market stability, strengthen supply chains and facilitate the exchange of technology and expertise, he added.
Al Aufi outlined Oman’s strengths as an energy investment destination, citing its oil and gas experience, solar and wind resources, and ports connecting it to global markets. He said a stable investment and regulatory environment supported long-term partnerships.
He also highlighted efforts to expand renewable energy capacity and energy storage to improve the reliability and sustainability of domestic supplies.
During the visit, Al Aufi toured the Hydrogen and Carbon Innovation Centre at the National University of Singapore to review research and technologies in both fields.
He also visited a battery energy storage complex on Jurong Island and a floating solar power plant operated by Sembcorp, examining Singapore’s deployment of renewable energy and storage systems to improve power system efficiency and reliability.
