MUSCAT: Nizwa Club continued their impressive start to the 2026-27 Under-17 Basketball League after recording a third successive victory with a commanding 41-15 win over Qurayat at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

The result lifted Nizwa to six points from three victories and strengthened their position in the competition.

Nizwa established their authority from the opening quarter, combining intense attacking pressure with disciplined defensive organisation. Their movement and efficiency around the basket allowed them to score regularly, while Qurayat struggled to create clear opportunities at the opposite end.

A dominant opening period saw Nizwa outscore Qurayat 16-1, giving them a substantial early advantage and control of the match.

Qurayat produced a more organised display in the second quarter, particularly in defence, and succeeded in limiting Nizwa’s attacking threat. Scoring opportunities became harder to find for both sides, but Nizwa edged the period 5-4 to enter the half-time break with a comfortable 21-5 lead.

Qurayat showed further improvement after the interval and enjoyed their best spell of the contest during the third quarter. Their players made better use of the opportunities available and scored eight points while restricting Nizwa to five.

Although Qurayat won the period 8-5 and reduced the deficit, Nizwa’s commanding start ensured they remained firmly ahead at 26-13 going into the final quarter.

Nizwa regained their attacking rhythm in the closing period and raised the tempo to put the match beyond Qurayat’s reach. They converted their scoring opportunities efficiently, while their defence held Qurayat to only two points.

A 15-point return in the fourth quarter sealed a convincing 41-15 victory, giving Nizwa a winning margin of 26 points and maintaining their perfect record after three matches.
