Organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Royal Court, the competition aims to encourage young people to memorise the Holy Quran and master its recitation, intonation and correct pronunciation.
The competition features seven levels, ranging from memorisation of the entire Holy Quran to two consecutive parts, with age eligibility criteria applying to selected categories.
Yousef bin Mohammed al Balushi, Vice-Chairman of the competition’s preliminary and final qualifying committees, said the competition seeks to develop proficient Quran reciters and strengthen Oman’s presence in international Quranic competitions.
He noted that the current edition has attracted 2,214 contestants, reflecting strong participation among young men and women. The competition is being held at 28 centres across Oman, including two newly added centres in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar and Dima W'attayeen. - ONA
