MUSCAT, OCT 25

Bahla ended Al Nasr’s unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Jindal League with a 1-0 victory, while Sur celebrated their first win of the season after defeating Oman Club 2-1 and Dhofar shared the points with Fanja in a 1-1 draw as the sixth round concluded on Saturday.

The results left Al Nahda at the top of the standings with 13 points, followed by Al Shabab and Al Nasr on 12 points each, while Seeb occupied fourth place with 10 points.

At Nizwa Sports Complex, Bahla produced a disciplined performance to hand Al Nasr their first defeat of the campaign, with Husni al Hinai scoring the decisive goal in the 46th minute.

Al Nasr enjoyed greater possession during the opening half but struggled to break down Bahla’s organised defence. Both sides adopted a cautious approach, resulting in limited clear-cut opportunities before the interval.

Bahla made an immediate impact after the restart when Al Hinai capitalised on an attacking opportunity to put the hosts ahead. The goal encouraged Bahla to maintain their defensive organisation while threatening through quick counterattacks.

Al Hinai had another opportunity to extend the lead, while Faisal al Aghbari was denied by Al Nasr goalkeeper Ibrahim al Rajhi after breaking through on goal.

Despite Al Nasr’s attempts to restore parity, Bahla held firm to secure their second consecutive victory, moving into fifth place with nine points. Al Nasr dropped to third with 12 points after five matches.

Meanwhile, Sur finally opened their points account with a 2-1 home victory over Oman Club at Sur Sports Complex.

Waleed al Musalmi gave Sur a dream start in the fourth minute when an attempted clearance by goalkeeper Faris al Ghaithi struck the forward and rebounded into the net.

Oman Club responded by increasing their attacking pressure and eventually equalised in the 38th minute through Khalid al Hadabi, who converted a cross to send the teams into half-time level.

The visitors maintained their attacking momentum after the restart, but Sur gradually regained control and found the winner in the 78th minute when Abdullah al Mushaifri finished from inside the penalty area.

Sur protected their advantage during the closing stages to collect their first three points of the season. Despite the victory, they remained 14th, while Oman Club stayed eighth with six points.

Elsewhere, Dhofar and Fanja settled for a 1-1 draw at Al Saada Sports Complex in Salalah.

After a goalless first half, Dhofar took the lead in the 68th minute when Fanja defender Salim al Shabibi inadvertently turned a free-kick delivered by substitute John Paul Rashford into his own net.

Fanja responded with greater attacking urgency and secured an equaliser in the 82nd minute through Mulhem al Hadhrami, who converted a cross to earn his side a valuable point.

The draw lifted both teams to six points, with Fanja occupying ninth place and Dhofar tenth on goal difference.

Al Hadhrami’s goal also took his season tally to four, placing him alongside Al Musannah’s Hazza al Mushaifri, Seeb’s Axel Meye and Sur’s Abdullah al Mushaifri at the top of the league scoring chart.

The sixth round produced 14 goals across seven matches, with six victories and one draw, as the competition heads into its next round in early November.
