SEOUL: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, received an honorary commendation certificate in the Excellence in Leadership and Management Award, within the framework of the 2026 International Hospital Federation (IHF) Awards.
This recognition was for the ministry’s participation with the "Patient Experience" project during the 49th World Hospital Congress, hosted this year by the Korean capital, Seoul, in appreciation of the ministry's efforts in improving patient experience and elevating the quality of health services in the Sultanate of Oman.
The certificate was received by Dr Abeer bint Abdullah al Maamari, Head of the Patient Experience Project Team. The awards committee had received over 750 entries from 38 countries this year, distributed across 8 categories, and judged by 62 international experts. This adds special value to this honour and reflects the result of national efforts in improving the quality of healthcare.
Dr Abeer al Maamari affirmed that the Patient Experience project is based on a pivotal concept, which is that the patient and their family are partners in planning, developing, and evaluating the healthcare provided, ensuring its alignment with their needs.
She added that the project has constituted a qualitative shift in the philosophy of healthcare in the Sultanate of Oman over the past years. The health system transitioned from focusing on service provision to adopting an approach that places the patient experience at the core of healthcare development, and from measuring beneficiary satisfaction to consolidating an institutional culture based on continuous improvement. — ONA
