Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) received an honourable mention in the 2026 International Hospital Federation (IHF) Awards for its Patient Experience Project, recognising efforts to improve the quality of healthcare and make services more responsive to patients’ needs.

The recognition came under the Excellence in Leadership and Management category during the 49th World Hospital Congress in Seoul, South Korea.

Dr Abeer bint Abdullah Al Maamari, head of the Patient Experience Project team, received the certificate on behalf of the ministry.

The awards attracted more than 750 entries from 38 countries across eight categories this year. A panel of 62 international experts assessed the submissions.

Dr Al Maamari said the project is founded on the principle that patients and their families should be active partners in planning, developing and evaluating healthcare services. This approach aims to ensure that care is designed around their needs and expectations.
