Muscat: A citizen has lost RO29,000 in a fraud case in North al Batinah Governorate, where two people of Arab nationality have been arrested, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.

The North al Batinah Police Command, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, arrested the two suspects on charges of defrauding the citizen by using deceptive methods that led the victim to believe his money would be multiplied and generate financial returns.

The ROP stressed the importance of community awareness in preventing fraud and electronic blackmail, urging the public to take precautionary measures and avoid being lured by promises of money transfers or unrealistic and attractive financial returns.

It also called on anyone who falls victim to fraud to report the incident immediately by calling the hotline 80077444.
