MUSCAT, OCT 18

Fanja secured their first victory of the 2026/27 Jindal League season with an impressive 3-1 win over Saham, ending their opponents’ unbeaten run, while Samayil and Al Musannah played out a 1-1 draw as the fifth round of the competition continued on Saturday.

The results brought contrasting fortunes for the four clubs, with Fanja collecting three valuable points to move away from the lower positions, while Saham suffered their second defeat of the campaign after previously recording three consecutive victories.

Fanja produced one of the notable results of the round as Mulhim al Hadhrami scored a hat-trick to lead his side to victory over Saham. The forward was the decisive figure in the contest, converting three opportunities, including a penalty, to secure Fanja’s first win of the season.

Saham, who entered the encounter hoping to build on their strong start to the campaign, struggled to contain Fanja’s attacking threat. Ali al Hashmi scored their only goal, but it was not enough to prevent the defeat.

The result represented a significant turnaround for Fanja, who had collected only two points from their opening four matches. Their victory lifted them to five points from five games, providing a welcome boost after a difficult start to the season.

For Saham, the defeat brought an end to their three-match winning streak and left them on nine points. Having established themselves among the early contenders through three successive victories, they will now be looking to regain momentum in the coming rounds.

Meanwhile, Samayil and Al Musannah shared the points following a 1-1 draw at the Nizwa Sports Complex.

Osama al Zuaabi found the net for Samayil, while Hazza Al Mashaykhi scored Al Musannah’s goal as neither side managed to secure the decisive advantage.

The draw allowed Samayil to increase their tally to six points after five matches, while Al Musannah moved to four points.

For Samayil, the result represented another opportunity to add to their points total as they seek to establish greater consistency in the competition. Although they were unable to secure all three points, the draw ensured they continued to accumulate points during the opening stages of the campaign.

Al Musannah, meanwhile, earned a valuable point as they look to improve their position in the standings. Their ability to find the net through Al Mashaykhi ensured they avoided defeat, although they remain in search of further victories to strengthen their league position.

With the fifth round continuing to shape the early standings, the coming fixtures will provide further opportunities for clubs to consolidate their positions and build momentum as the 2026/27 season progresses.
