MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality is carrying out a 3 million RO project to repair coastal protection structures along Muttrah’s seafront road, strengthening its protection against waves and erosion.

The project covers a 268-metre stretch in zones four and five under the first phase. It is scheduled for completion in April 2027.

Mohammed bin Abdullah al Nabhani, a roads engineer at Muscat Municipality, told Oman News Agency that the work aims to improve the road’s protection and reduce future damage.

The project includes rehabilitating rock protection structures, constructing concrete piles, installing breakwater units and repairing damaged sections of existing walls. Road and pavement maintenance is also included.

Al Nabhani said technical monitoring continues on the anchoring piles and concrete mixes, alongside rock inspections and quality checks on protection units, to ensure compliance with approved specifications.

The project has an implementation period of 395 days and is expected to improve the resilience and sustainability of Muttrah’s coastal infrastructure.
