Al Amerat claimed their first Senior Team Table Tennis Championship title after edging defending champions Seeb 3-2 in a closely contested final at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Sunday, October 11. Ibri secured the bronze medals with a 3-1 victory over Saham, who finished fourth.

The final capped an unbeaten campaign for Al Amerat, who topped Group One with eight points before defeating Taqah 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Saham by the same score in the semifinals. Their narrow victory over Seeb completed a breakthrough achievement in the senior team category.

The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice-Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee, in the presence of sports federation and club officials, Oman Table Tennis Association board members and spectators.

Ambusaidi presented awards to the leading clubs and players across the season’s singles and team competitions.

Al Amerat also celebrated success in the senior singles event, with Muhannad bin Khalifa al Balushi defeating Seeb’s Nasser al Balushi to secure the title. Seeb’s Ghassan al Ghassani finished third.

Muhannad described the season as exceptional, highlighting stronger competition and the participation of professionals from Australia, Iran and Bahrain. He said the tournaments also provided opportunities to identify emerging talent and assess players’ progress across the age groups.

Ambusaidi praised the association’s efforts to develop young players, describing the talent displayed throughout the season as an encouraging sign for the sport’s future. He highlighted the quality of the final and called for continued cooperation between clubs, the association and relevant organisations to expand participation across Oman’s governorates.

Association chairman Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamakhalif congratulated the winners and thanked clubs for their participation throughout the season. He also acknowledged the contribution of board members, committees, volunteers, sponsors and media organisations, saying collective efforts had supported the successful delivery of the competitions.

In the youngest age category, Qurayat’s Al Yaman bin Sulaiman al Hasani won the singles title, followed by Yanqul players Al Yazid al Alawi and Fahad al Alawi. Qurayat also claimed the team crown, ahead of Ibri and Yanqul.

Saham’s Nasser al Zaabi won the junior singles competition, with teammate Ali al Ajmi second and Al Amerat’s Turki al Abri third. Al Amerat took the junior team title, followed by Saham and Ibri.

Ibri’s Ahmed al Riyami secured the youth singles crown, ahead of Turki al Abri and Ali al Ajmi. Ibri also topped the youth team competition, with Al Amerat runners-up and Saham third.

The season featured professionals from Iran, France, Australia and Bahrain, strengthening competition and giving local players valuable opportunities to gain experience against opponents with different playing styles.
