MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman crowned its efforts in developing the postal sector by securing first place regionally for the second consecutive year and winning the "Regional Leadership" award in the 2026 Postal Development Index issued by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This achievement reflects the ongoing development in the sector and the continuous efforts to enhance the efficiency and reach of postal services.

This result coincides with Oman’s celebration, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, of World Post Day, observed this year under the theme "One Postal Network, Endless Potential", highlighting the developments and achievements that have strengthened the postal sector's standing regionally and internationally.

Oman's postal service network experienced notable growth in the number of post offices and access points, increasing from 610 points in 2024 to 704 points in 2025. This expansion improves service distribution and accessibility across various segments of society in all governorates.

Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of access points with 107, followed by Dhofar Governorate with 50 points, and Al Batinah North Governorate with 39 points.

Additionally, the domestic express mail sector saw a 26 per cent jump in 2025, reaching over 4.38 million items and processing more than 3 million incoming international parcels, driven by growing demand for postal services and their vital role in supporting commerce and logistics. — ONA
