MANAMA: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Thursday in the 126th meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.


The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman at the meeting was headed by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, with the participation of a number of officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Royal Oman Police, and the Tax Authority.


During the meeting, a range of topics was discussed, including the recommendations and outcomes of the meeting of the GCC Under-Secretaries of Ministries of Finance Committee, the GCC Committee of Governors of Central Banks, the GCC Joint Market Committee, the Customs Union Authority, and the GCC Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Administrations, alongside reviewing updates on free trade agreement negotiations between GCC countries and other nations and international blocs, as well as the status of the GCC Joint Market.


Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and Ahmed bin Jaafar al Musalmi, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, also participated in the joint meeting of the Ministers of Finance, Central Bank Governors, and the Secretary-General of the GCC with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, to discuss financial and economic prospects and developments in GCC countries.


The Sultanate of Oman's participation in these meetings comes within the framework of supporting the process of financial and economic integration among GCC countries, enhancing economic stability, and keeping pace with regional and international developments. - ONA
