SUHAR: Al Batinah North’s private sector has recorded significant expansion over the past four years, supported by rising business registrations, growing investment, trade activity and stronger engagement with international markets, according to indicators presented at the “Injaz and Impact” forum organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in the governorate.

Held to highlight the branch’s achievements between 2022 and 2026 and honour its sectoral committees, the forum was attended by Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of Al Batinah North, Eng Said bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the OCCI branch, former chairmen, business leaders, sectoral committee members and representatives of the private sector.

Presenting the branch’s performance indicators, Al Abri said more than 200 economic programmes and initiatives had been implemented during the period, alongside efforts to address private sector needs and improve the business environment.

The governorate’s business base expanded from 47,200 companies in 2022 to 68,064 by the end of 2025, representing 44 per cent growth. New Chamber subscribers during the period reached 20,864.

“The figures presented today tell a story that extends beyond the growth in company numbers,” Al Abri said. “They reflect a broader expansion of economic activity and the increasing diversity of the business community. Our priority is to turn this growth into sustainable opportunities and stronger connections between local enterprises, investors and markets.”

Al Batinah North’s GDP reached RO4.405 billion in 2025, with average growth of 4.5 per cent between 2022 and 2025. Investment in the governorate’s economic zones stood at RO14.66 billion, while exports recorded a 74 per cent increase in 2024 compared with the previous year, reaching RO1.6 billion.

“Investment, logistics and trade cannot be viewed separately,” he said. “The figures relating to Sohar Port, economic zones and international engagement show the potential of an integrated ecosystem. Through the Sohar Investment Forum alone, 104 investment opportunities were presented, while 14 agreements valued at more than RO115 million were signed, creating practical pathways from opportunity to partnership.”

The forum also recorded RO 1.3 billion in the value of investment opportunities presented through its investment platform, alongside participation from more than 800 visitors and representatives from over 20 countries.

Rashid al Ghafri, Director of the OCCI Al Batinah North branch, said the next phase would focus on measuring the impact of initiatives, accelerating digital transformation and strengthening the institutional role of sectoral committees in supporting Oman Vision 2040.
