Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Albusaidi, the Foreign Minister, met with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two ministers discussed regional and international developments and their repercussions on maritime security, energy supplies, and supply chains.
They affirmed the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching practical, consensus-based solutions to outstanding issues and de-escalating tensions in the region.
Sayyid Badr met with Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting—held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly—the two ministers discussed efforts to mend rifts in various regional relationships and reviewed current developments across the Middle East and the Gulf region. They emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to foster trust-building approaches, reach consensus-based solutions, and find practical ways to address outstanding issues—all while respecting the interests of all parties and supporting regional security and stability.
The ministers also addressed efforts regarding the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the assurance of freedom of passage, aiming to support international trade and energy supplies.
