MUSCAT: Work on the Al Ansab-Al Jafnayn road dualisation project has reached 90.17 per cent, Muscat Municipality said.
The 15-km project extends from Falaj Al Sham in the Wilayat of Bausher to the Al Rusayl-Bidbid road intersection in Al Jafnayn, Wilayat of Al Seeb.
The project includes the construction of a six-lane dual carriageway with three lanes in each direction. Three existing roundabouts on Al Ansab Street are also being converted into multi-level intersections featuring bridges and tunnels.
Four new intersections are being built at Al Awabi, the cement plant, the entrance to Al Rusayl Industrial City and Al Jafnayn. The project also includes improvements to parallel service roads, surface-water drainage channels and flood-protection works.
Once completed, the road is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time and enhance road safety. It will also strengthen connectivity between Bausher and Al Seeb, as well as roads leading to Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The project is also expected to improve the movement of goods and logistics services, facilitate access to residential, industrial and service areas, and support urban and economic development.
