Education Ministry, OQ sign cooperation programme

SUHAR: The Ministry of Education signed on Wednesday a cooperation programme to implement joint programmes in career guidance and the energy sector with OQ Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company, contributing to developing and empowering students to acquire advanced scientific skills and enhancing their understanding of various work environments through three programmes: the "Work Experience" programme for students, the training programme for career guidance specialists, and the awareness campaign on the future of the oil and gas sector.


The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Education by Dr Intisar bint Abdullah Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Support Programmes, while it was signed on behalf of OQ Company by Faisal bin Ahmed al Balushi, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ.


The cooperation programme includes the execution of joint programmes represented in the work experience programme, under which students are attached to the second party's sites for training in technical and administrative skills, and the specialists' training programme through organising specialised workshops for career guidance specialists on the future of energy.


The programme also includes executing a comprehensive media and educational campaign on the future of the oil and gas sector, developing training and awareness content in proportion to the target groups, in addition to continuous evaluation and follow-up on the effectiveness of the executed programmes, establishing joint mechanisms to periodically assess students' performance and measure the extent to which programme goals are achieved, preparing periodic joint reports on the workflow in the programme, identifying challenges, proposing solutions and recommendations, and reviewing the cooperative programme and all related programmes in general at the end of each operational phase or when needed, with the aim of developing and improving it to ensure its continuity and effectiveness. - ONA
