The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) has announced its 2026–2027 15th Anniversary Season, marking fifteen years of artistic achievement and cultural exchange. From October 2026 to May 2027, the season will feature 28 unique shows across 43 performance nights, spanning opera, Arab music, concerts, ballet, jazz, world music and family entertainment, alongside exhibitions and an expanded education and community programme.
Since opening, ROHM, Oman’s flagship performing arts institution and the first opera house in the GCC, has evolved from a landmark venue into an internationally respected producing house. Its anniversary season reflects this growth through international collaborations, original productions, Omani heritage and programmes designed to nurture local talent and engage new audiences.
The season opens with Verdi’s Rigoletto, presented in ROHM’s acclaimed co-production with the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre and marking legendary director Franco Zeffirelli’s final operatic vision. Another highlight is ROHM’s original production, Sindbad: The Omani Sailor, inspired by Oman’s maritime heritage and created with international artists in collaboration with Müpa Budapest.
Other operatic highlights include The Opera!, a signature ROHM production inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and The Magic Flute: Defeating the Monsters, an adaptation of Mozart’s masterpiece for younger audiences.
Arab music remains central to the season, with performances by artists including Nawal, Nabeel Shuail, Marwa Nagy, Yosra Mahnouch, Medhat Saleh, Mohammed Assaf and Aseel Abu Bakr. Ramadan programming will feature evenings of Sufi and Inshaad music from Oman and Syria.
The international concert programme includes Oman debuts by mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, a Grand Opera Gala, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert. Omani qanun virtuoso Wahab Al Dhanki will join international musicians for Homage to the Qanun, blending Omani and Armenian musical traditions.
The season also presents Teatro alla Scala Ballet in Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote, a celebration of jazz, Portuguese Fado, Sicilian-Arab music, military music, international folk traditions and The Nutcracker on Ice.
Beyond the stage, ROHM will expand its education and community initiatives, including youth programmes, school collaborations, workshops, accessibility projects and its summer camp. The anniversary exhibition, 15 Years of Stage and Splendour, will showcase costumes, artefacts and archives tracing ROHM’s artistic journey.
The 2026–2027 season celebrates ROHM’s fifteen-year legacy while reaffirming its ambition to connect Oman with the world and inspire the next generation through artistic excellence and cultural dialogue.
