MANAMA: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, participated in the fifth meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Oman’s delegation was led by Dr Ali bin Amer al Shaithani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology. The meeting was attended by heads of cybersecurity authorities and centres from GCC member states, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and specialists from the GCC Secretariat-General.
During the meeting, delegates reviewed updates on the implementation of initiatives under the Executive Plan for the GCC Cybersecurity Strategy (2024-2028). Discussions also covered key topics related to the regional cybersecurity framework, operational action plans, and avenues to enhance inter-GCC cooperation. Joint initiatives aimed at raising digital protection standards, confronting escalating cyber threats, and advancing digital infrastructure were given priority.
A major outcome of the meeting was the official adoption of the GCC Guiding Essential Cybersecurity Controls and the GCC Guiding Data Cybersecurity Controls.
