Otech, a future technology provider and digital transformation enabler in the Sultanate of Oman, and DeepAstra, the sovereign AI platform, have launched the DeepAstra application programming interface (DeepAstra API) in the Sultanate of Oman as part of a strategic partnership between the two companies. The launch aims to broaden access to artificial intelligence technologies for institutions and the private sector, reduce the investment requirements associated with their adoption, and align costs with usage, thereby helping transform AI capabilities into applications, products, and services that deliver economic value.
The service has been launched as part of the two companies’ joint efforts to support the Sultanate of Oman’s drive to develop the digital economy, foster innovation, and expand private-sector participation in a technology- and knowledge-based economy. It also aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan in the areas of digital transformation, innovation, and the development of national technological capabilities.
The DeepAstra API enables institutions, companies, developers, and small and medium enterprises to access multiple AI models through a unified interface within a locally hosted environment. Instead of building separate infrastructure and technical integration for each model, developers can connect once, test different models, and select the most suitable one for each use case. This helps reduce the initial costs, technical complexity, and technological challenges associated with developing AI-powered products and services, while accelerating the transition from testing to practical deployment.
The service provides access to open-source AI models, giving institutions greater transparency and control over usage, access, and permissions. Local hosting also supports data security, compliance, and governance requirements, while providing a controlled technological foundation upon which institutions can build and scale their use of AI applications across various economic sectors.
The service delivers practical value to small and medium enterprises, developers, and technology companies by reducing the need for substantial infrastructure investment during the initial stages and enabling them to develop their technological solutions with greater efficiency and flexibility. It will also support technology entrepreneurship and innovation and encourage the development of local digital products and services. Furthermore, it enables institutions to begin with specific use cases and then gradually expand in line with their operational needs and institutional capabilities.
Under the partnership, Otech will support the local availability of the service and enable institutions to adopt and benefit from it, while DeepAstra will provide the service’s core technology, including the unified interface and the integration and management of AI models within clearly defined controls. This collaboration combines the two companies’ local presence and technical expertise to provide an environment that gives institutions broader options and greater control and transparency when developing enterprise-grade AI solutions.
