Muscat: A light earthquake measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Wilayat of Sadah in Dhofar Governorate on Sunday morning, according to the Earthquake Monitoring Centre (EMC) at Sultan Qaboos University.
The earthquake was recorded at 9:57 am local time, at a depth of 2 kilometres.
The epicentre was located in the Sadah area, around 133 kilometres northeast of Salalah, the centre said.
