MUSCAT: Young Omani driver Abdullah al Rawahi added another title to his impressive career after winning the fourth round of the Jordan National Rally on Friday. He dominated the day's competition, leading the rally from start to finish, ahead of second-place finisher Bader al Fayez and co-driver Joseph Mattar and third-place finisher Shaker Juwaihan and co-driver Mustafa Juma.
Al Rawahi and his Jordanian co-driver Atta al Hamood, driving a Skoda Fabia R5, delivered a strong performance on relatively new and challenging stages, far from the Dead Sea stages. These semi-desert stages were speedy on a difficult terrain.
Al Rawahi achieved fast times in each of these stages, securing a significant lead over the rest and ultimately winning the local title.
Regarding Friday's race and his first place, champion Abdullah al Rawahi confirmed that the fourth round race was behind the rest of the previous local races and had rough parts and new stages, but they were fast at the same time.
"Thank God, we were able to win the fourth title of the Jordan National Rally." He added that "our participation in this race was very important as we are continuing our preparation for the upcoming events. Our next programme is the International Rally of Lebanon."
"It was also vital for us to get used to the car with the possibility of developing it in each participation," the Omani rally driver added.
