Al Nasr retain lead as Seeb, Saham extend winning runs

MUSCAT: Al Nasr maintained their position at the top of Group 1 in the Jindal Youth League after overcoming Bahla 6-4 in a 10-goal contest, while Seeb and Saham continued their impressive starts during an action-packed third round.

The six matches produced 38 goals, with several teams strengthening their challenge for the semifinal places in the inaugural youth competition.

In Group 1, Al Nasr were pushed hard by Bahla before securing a 6-4 victory. The result lifted Al Nasr to seven points from three matches, following two victories and one draw. They have scored 18 goals and lead the standings by one point.

Seeb maintained their perfect record with a commanding 7-0 victory over Samayil. Having also defeated Oman Club by the same scoreline in the previous round, Seeb have now scored 14 goals without conceding in their opening two matches.

The victory moved Seeb into second place with six points, level with Oman Club but ahead on goal difference.

Oman Club recovered from their heavy defeat to Seeb with a 4-1 victory over Dhofar. The result gave Oman Club their second win in three matches and kept them firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stage.

Sur, who did not play in the third round, occupy fourth place with four points from two matches. Samayil remain on three points, while Bahla and Dhofar are yet to collect a point after three appearances.

SAHAM CONTINUE RUN

In Group 2, Saham extended their perfect start by defeating Sohar 3-1. Saham have now won all three matches and sit five points clear at the top with nine points.

Ibri returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Al Rustaq. Their second win of the competition moved them into second place with six points from three matches.

Al Shabab produced one of the round’s most convincing performances, thrashing Al Nahda 6-1 to move into third place with four points from two matches.

Sohar also have four points but sit fourth on goal difference, while Al Khabourah and Al Rustaq remain on one point each. Al Nahda are bottom of the group without a point after two matches.

With the competition approaching the halfway stage, the battle for the top two positions in each group is intensifying. The leading teams will be aiming to maintain their momentum as they pursue qualification for the knockout semifinals.
