FM discusses regional developments with GCC counterparts

Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, held a consultative meeting today with the ministers of foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states via videoconference.

During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on developments in the current phase, the latest updates on ongoing negotiations and efforts aimed at advancing them towards practical understandings that contribute to reducing tensions and strengthening regional security and stability.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance coordination and consultation among GCC countries on issues related to the freedom and safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring the rights of passage and transit, as well as the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic, trade and supplies, in accordance with international law and in a manner that safeguards the sovereign rights of all littoral states of the Gulf waters.

The ministers underscored the importance of continuing joint efforts, prioritising political and diplomatic solutions and creating conducive conditions for building confidence and reaching solutions acceptable to all parties.
