Muscat: The death toll from two earthquakes in Venezuela has gone up to 5,119, while 16,740 people have suffered injuries to date.

Jorge Rodríguez, President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, said that the death toll grew by 50 in the last 24 hours, while rescued survivors reached 6,462.

Venezuela experienced two back-to-back earthquakes on June 24, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, respectively, with a time interval of approximately 40 seconds, triggering the authorities to declare a state of emergency; in the meantime, neighboring countries and international organizations raced to send rescue teams and humanitarian aid to Venezuela.
