MUSCAT: The Oman Shooting Association's annual championship got under way at the National Olympic Shooting Range in Muscat on Sunday.
The 2026 edition features competitions in the 50-metre traditional live-ammunition rifle category, known as "al Saktoun", in addition to Olympic 10-metre air rifle and air pistol events.
The championship has attracted male and female shooters across several divisions, including juniors, seniors and athletes with disabilities. The event will continue until July 15.
The opening day included official training sessions conducted in a competitive atmosphere, allowing participants to refine their technical skills ahead of the main contests.
