Muscat: Chinese authorities have evacuated 1.7 million people as typhoon ‘Bavi’ approaches eastern China. The Chinese news agency said that the typhoon has reached north Taiwan, southern outlying islands in Japan, Zhejiang province and Yuhuan city. It also added that the typhoon is getting weaker and moving toward the North West, with no reports of injuries or damages.

The authorities warn of any probable escalation of the events in the coast and the risk of flash floods and severe thunderstorms affecting traffic.
