AL SUWAIQ: A specialised medical team from Al Nahdha Hospital recently performed two specialised oral and maxillofacial surgeries at Al Suwaiq Hospital, the first operations of their kind at Al Suwaiq Hospital. The surgeries enhanced the concept of decentralisation, integration and expansion of specialised medical services across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The two surgeries aimed to spare the hospital the need to transfer patients to referral hospitals and, in the meantime, facilitate beneficiaries’ access to specialised medical services near their places of residence.

Dr Salma bint Musallam al Jahdhami, Head of the Department of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Al Nahdha Hospital, said that the operations were in pursuance of efforts undertaken by Al Nahdha Hospital to promote medical expertise and to enhance the principle of integration between referral hospitals and other health establishments in a manner that contributes to upgrading health services and making them more accessible to the beneficiaries.

Dr Salma added that Al Nahdha Hospital is pressing ahead with a drive to implement specialised medical programmes in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the approach of the Ministry of Health to improve medical care and minimise the need to refer patients to referral hospitals. — ONA
