Majlis A'Shura is hosting the Minister of Labor to discuss Ministerial Decision 602/2025, which regulates work permits and work practice permits, and Decision 44/2026, which announced its implementation from February this year.
The session will focus on coordination with relevant entities (Development Bank, Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (Riyada), Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), justifications for introducing the amendments in Ministerial Decision 44/2026, and the growth of some sectors in the contracting and hospitality services.
The session will discuss the impact of these decisions on the competitiveness of the national economy and its ability to attract local and foreign investment, the legislative background for issuing the decision, and the extent to which the provisions are consistent with national policies for regulating the labor market and the number of expected and sustainable employment opportunities for job seekers.
It will explore the impact of implementing the regulation on addressing imbalances in the labor market and reducing irregular practices.
