Oman-Iran joint committee holds first Hormuz Strait meeting in Muscat

Muscat: The Oman-Iran Joint Committee on the Strait of Hormuz convened its inaugural meeting in Muscat to exchange views on the future management of the strategic waterway and related issues.

The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Iranian side was headed by Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.

The discussions focused on strengthening coordination on matters related to the Strait of Hormuz in line with the two countries' shared interests and sovereignty, reaffirming their commitment to international law and exploring cooperation in navigation and maritime services as the two littoral states of the strait, within the framework of existing bilateral and international understandings.
