BUKHA: Construction of the Bukha Waterfront Development Project in Musandam Governorate has reached 95 per cent completion, bringing the coastal tourism and leisure destination closer to opening as part of efforts to strengthen the governorate’s tourism infrastructure.

The project covers an area of 26,000 square metres and forms part of wider government initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism facilities, improving public spaces and leveraging Musandam’s natural coastal attractions.

Officials say the development is expected to support economic activity, improve the quality of life for residents and visitors and reinforce Bukha’s position as a growing tourism destination within the governorate.

Mohammed bin Saif al Jabri, Assistant Director-General of Musandam Municipality, said the project has been designed as an integrated tourism and recreational destination serving both local residents and visitors to Musandam.

He said the waterfront would help attract more visitors, stimulate tourism and commercial activity and provide new spaces for leisure, sports and community events.

The development includes an 800-metre promenade overlooking the sea, commercial kiosks, a boat rental facility, a seafront restaurant, a children's play area, water fountains, landscaped green spaces and shaded seating areas.

Supporting service facilities have also been incorporated into the project to improve visitor convenience and enhance the overall tourism experience.

According to Musandam Municipality, the waterfront project represents a significant addition to the governorate’s tourism infrastructure and is expected to contribute to the development of the coastal area while improving its urban landscape.

Officials believe the project will create opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises through commercial facilities and tourism-related activities, generating additional business opportunities and supporting local entrepreneurship.

The project is also expected to increase visitor spending and encourage domestic tourism, particularly as Musandam continues to attract travellers seeking nature, marine activities and outdoor experiences.

The waterfront development forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Musandam’s tourism offering by combining the governorate’s natural attractions with modern recreational and service facilities.

Authorities expect the project to become a focal point for tourism, leisure and community activities, while supporting long-term economic and tourism growth in Bukha and the wider Musandam Governorate. — ONA
