The completion rate of the development project for the fishing port in Raysut, Wilayat of Salalah, has reached approximately 81 per cent, with a total cost of nearly RO 3 million.

This project is part of the efforts led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources to enhance the efficiency and development of fishing ports.

Abdul Nasser bin Aubad Ghawas, Director of the Fisheries Department in Dhofar Governorate, said that the ministry is continuing the construction work according to the approved schedule, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2026. He noted that the port’s development aims to support local fishermen and bolster fishing activities in the Wilayat of Salalah.

He explained that the rehabilitation works include the construction of a 610-metre breakwater and a 60-metre fixed wharf, alongside the creation of a 250-metre rock groyne to provide primary protection against sand and silt encroachment into the port.

He added that the project also involves the construction of a boat ramp and the paving of a one kilometre internal road connecting the existing road to the fixed wharf, in addition to installing lighting, implementing rainwater drainage systems, deepening approximately 100,000 cubic metres of sand within the port basin, and reclaiming 30,000 square metres of land adjacent to the fixed wharf.

Furthermore, he pointed out that four future projects are planned for Dhofar Governorate within the ministry’s project matrix, categorised by priority. These include the development of the boats.
