AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has revealed the details of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival 2026, which will span 45 days from July 15 to August 29.

The festival features new, qualitative events and experiences designed to consolidate the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar's position as a leading summer tourist destination and support socioeconomic mobility. This coincides with the launch of new tourism and development projects that contribute to enriching the visitor experience and raising the site's readiness.

This announcement was made during a preparatory meeting held by the governorate with governmental and private entities, alongside strategic partners involved in organising the festival.

The meeting witnessed the signing of contracts with the executing companies for the accompanying events and programmes. Attendees also reviewed the organisational, technical and operational aspects, as well as the action plans related to managing events, public services and facilities, ensuring the festival sites are fully prepared to receive visitors according to the highest standards of quality and organisation.

The organisation of this year's festival coincides with the operational launch of several new developmental and tourism projects in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar. Most notably, these include the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Park project and various facility and public service development initiatives. These additions significantly enhance the wilayat's readiness to accommodate growing numbers of visitors and enrich the overall tourism experience.

The Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival is considered one of the most prominent tourism seasons in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, capitalising on the wilayat's status as a premier local and regional destination and the continuous growth of tourism-related investments and projects.

This year's festival offers a comprehensive experience targeting all age groups through a variety of interactive zones and events that blend entertainment, culture, shopping and community activities. Key zones include the Family Oasis, Youth Square, Games Area, Kids' World, Cinema Dome, Mountain Bazaar and Taste Passion Zone.

The main stage stands out as a major attraction in this year's edition, hosting a continuous daily programme of theatrical, entertainment, and interactive shows aimed at families and children. Across the 45 days, the stage will feature plays, spectacular performances, talent discovery segments, interactive competitions, cartoon character shows and a roaming carnival.

The 2026 edition introduces several qualitative experiences presented for the first time in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, elevating content diversity and visitor experiences. These include major interactive inflatable games, the Neon Oasis and a 3D holographic floating provisions.

For youth-oriented events, the Youth Square houses a range of modern digital and entertainment activities, including Virtual Reality (VR) games, interactive challenges and diverse competitions, effectively keeping pace with youth interests and encouraging their active participation.

The economic aspect maintains a robust presence at the festival through the Mountain Bazaar and the Taste Passion Zone. These areas feature more than 85 participants, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), productive families, farmers, local restaurants, cafes and retail stores. This setup contributes heavily to promoting national products and empowering local entrepreneurs and business owners.

Shaikh Mahmoud bin Rashid al Saadi, Acting Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, stated that the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival is a developmental initiative that stimulates economic and tourism movement in the governorate. It maximises the utilisation of the natural and heritage assets abundant in the wilayat, while actively supporting SMEs, productive families, artisans and farmers.

He added that the governorate views the festival as an integrated platform to highlight the economic, tourism and investment opportunities within Al Jabal Al Akhdhar. It aims to enhance the tourism sector's contribution to local development in alignment with the targets of Oman Vision 2040 and the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate strategy, which focuses on diversifying economic activities, improving the quality of life and boosting overall competitiveness. - ONA
