

IBRA: The Municipal Council of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate held its fifth meeting for 2026 on Sunday, chaired by Mahmoud bin Yahya al Thuhli, Governor of Al Sharqiyah North and Chairman of the Council, along with members.
The council discussed a range of development, service and planning issues across various wilayats of the governorate. At the outset, the meeting approved the minutes of the previous session before reviewing updates on technical procedures related to building and construction within municipal departments.
Members also examined proposals aimed at improving the urban landscape, including initiatives to enhance the facades of commercial buildings to create a more cohesive and visually appealing city appearance.
The meeting further reviewed investment opportunities presented through the 'Tatweer' platform, including a proposed water purification and bottling plant project in the Al Dukaik area of Ibra.
A series of planning and service requests were also discussed, including the allocation of land plots with usufruct rights, relocation of sports facility sites, and the development of planning zones for residential and industrial use across several states.
The council addressed initiatives related to residential development plans in Al Ayoun in Sinaw, a proposed planning enclave in Wadi Bani Khalid, and the establishment of a one-kilometre walkway in the Al Awainah archaeological area aimed at boosting tourism and local services.
Members also reviewed recommendations from standing committees and discussed regulatory approaches to existing animal farms across the governorate.
The meeting reflects the council’s ongoing efforts to follow up on development projects and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and residents in Al Sharqiyah North. - ONA
