MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman is set to participate in the international agricultural and industrial exhibition Belagro 2026, which opens in Minsk, Belarus, on Tuesday, as part of efforts to deepen economic cooperation and promote investment opportunities in key productive sectors.
Oman's pavilion will showcase a range of national projects and initiatives in agriculture, fisheries and water sustainability, alongside investment opportunities across these strategic sectors. The participation will feature representatives from both the public and private sectors, highlighting the country's drive to strengthen food security and sustainable resource management.
The Omani delegation will be led by Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and will include ministry officials and representatives of government-owned companies involved in food security-related activities.
A parallel trade delegation, headed by Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), will comprise board members and representatives of Omani companies operating in the industrial, technology and food security sectors.
The participation reflects Oman's broader strategy to expand its international economic footprint and foster stronger investment and trade partnerships in agriculture, fisheries, water resources and food security.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Omani-Belarusian Business Forum will bring together business leaders and officials from both countries to explore opportunities for collaboration and investment. Discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral trade relations, identifying joint ventures in strategic sectors and facilitating direct business-to-business engagements between companies operating in food production, manufacturing and technology.
The programme also includes a series of meetings with Belarusian officials aimed at exploring avenues for cooperation and knowledge exchange. Delegates will undertake field visits to agricultural and industrial facilities to gain insights into advanced technologies and best practices in agricultural production and food processing.
In addition, the trade delegation will visit technology and communications companies, as well as factories specialising in food security solutions, machinery and industrial equipment.
Belagro is one of Belarus's leading agricultural and industrial exhibitions, attracting extensive participation from international companies and institutions involved in agriculture, food processing and advanced technologies. The event serves as an important platform for promoting trade, investment and cross-border partnerships among participating countries. — ONA
