MUSCAT: A multi-specialty medical team at Al Nahdha Hospital successfully performed a complex surgical procedure to remove an advanced cancerous tumour from a patient’s nose and sinuses. The surgery put an end to the malignant tissue growth that had extended to the patient's eye socket, skull base and pituitary gland.
The surgical team used an endoscopic technique that was applied via the nose, thus avoiding any external surgical incisions.
The surgery, which lasted about 4 hours, saw the participation of an integrated medical team from Al Nahdha Hospital’s ENT and Ophthalmology Department that joined hands with a neurosurgery team from Khoula Hospital. This multidisciplinary collaboration reflects the lofty level of professional medical integration among Oman’s health institutions.
