Muscat: Oman’s cultural community is mourning the loss of writer and researcher Khamis bin Rashid Al Adawi, who passed away today following a distinguished journey of contributions to literature, culture and intellectual life in the Sultanate.

During his career, the late Al Adawi held several official and community positions, most notably serving as Director of the Literary Forum at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. In this role, he played a key part in documenting historical research and strengthening national identity through the forum’s programmes and initiatives.

He also served as Chairman of the Omani Society for Writers and Literati, where he worked to foster meaningful engagement with intellectuals and writers both within Oman and abroad through seminars, lectures and intellectual discussions.

Al Adawi was also part of the cultural and intellectual team that contributed to strengthening the role and presence of the Public Seminar Library in Bahla, supporting literary and cultural initiatives that had an impact across the Sultanate.

His passing marks the loss of a prominent cultural figure whose work and contributions helped enrich Oman’s literary and intellectual landscape over many years.
