

MUSCAT: Oman badminton coach Nasser bin Sulaiman al Jabri, is currently taking part in the prestigious Badminton Asia (BA) Coach Xceleration Programme, which is underway in Malaysia under the supervision of Badminton Asia.
The intensive 10-day programme, which began on May 10, is part of Badminton Asia’s long-term strategy to develop and enhance the technical and professional capabilities of badminton coaches across the continent. The initiative brings together selected coaches from various Asian countries to participate in advanced coaching workshops, technical sessions and leadership development activities.
The Oman Racket Sports Committee (ORSC) continues to place strong emphasis on developing national human resources in racket sports by providing coaches and technical staff with international training opportunities. The committee believes that exposure to high-level coaching programmes will help Omani coaches gain valuable technical knowledge and practical experience, contributing to the long-term development of badminton in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Badminton Asia Coach Xceleration Programme is considered as one of the leading elite coaching initiatives in the continent. The programme aims to deepen technical understanding, improve coaching methodologies, strengthen leadership qualities and enhance communication skills among coaches.
It also provides a collaborative environment where participants can exchange experiences and learn from Badminton Asia experts and international coaching specialists.
Speaking about his participation, coach Nasser al Jabri expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and highlighted the benefits gained from the programme. “My impression of the programme has been exceptional. This course taught me many intricate details about player development, including diverse warm-up techniques, fitness enhancement methods and tests that help measure and improve players’ abilities and training quality”, he said.
“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the ORSC and Badminton Asia for providing me with this valuable opportunity. The experience and knowledge I gained will undoubtedly help me develop players and raise the technical level of training centres in Oman”, he added.
Nasser is currently serving as assistant coach of Oman’s national badminton team alongside head coach Wassim al Khateeb. He plays an active role in supervising badminton training centres across Oman, particularly in Al Seeb and Bausher, in addition to supporting future development centres planned by ORSC.
The programme in Malaysia forms part of a broader development plan launched by Badminton Asia and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to raise coaching standards throughout the region. Additional coaching programmes scheduled throughout 2026, which will include the BWF Level 2 Coaching Course, Training of Trainers (TOT) courses and intensive regional training camps for both players and coaches.
