Karate coaches qualification course on May 15, 16

MUSCAT: The Oman Karate Committee (OKC) will organise a Coaches Qualification Course on May 15 and 16, 2026 at the sports hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, with the participation of coaches from clubs, academies and private karate centres representing various governorates.


The course aims to develop the coaches’ level and enhance their technical and training skills, contributing to the advancement of karate in the Sultanate of Oman through specialised training programmes and lectures that combine both theoretical and practical aspects.


The course will focus on karate fundamentals (Kihon), in addition to training on the basic kata series (Heian), with the objective of strengthening the technical and skill-based abilities of participating coaches. It will also include practical training sessions on kumite fundamentals (free sparring), focusing on basic techniques and movement strategies inside the competition area.

In addition, the course will feature a specialised session on kumite strategies, covering technical and tactical aspects and methods of applying them during competitions, contributing to the development of the participants’ coaching mindset.


On the kata side, a special advanced kata training session will be conducted, highlighting several advanced technical and movement aspects in accordance with modern and internationally recognised karate methods.


An official certificate accredited by the Oman Karate Committee will be awarded to coaches participating in the course.


This course comes as part of the Oman Karate Committee’s continuous efforts to qualify national technical cadres and strengthen technical development programmes, positively reflecting on the level of coaches and athletes and contributing to the advancement of karate in Oman at both the local and international levels.
