Nizwa strengthen grip on Basketball Centres League lead

MUSCAT: Nizwa Club held on to top place in the Athletes Preparation Centres Basketball League for the 2025-2026 season after recording a deserved 53-42 win over Al Bashayer Club, while Seeb Club continued their strong run with a 53-36 victory over Al Amerat Club.


With the latest results, Nizwa remain at the top of the standings on 10 points, followed by Seeb on 9 points. Al Amerat are third with 7 points, while Al Bashayer remain on 5 points.


In the first match, Nizwa produced another solid display to overcome Al Bashayer 53-42 in a game where they set the tone from the opening quarter. Playing with intensity at both ends of the court, Nizwa dominated early and prevented their opponents from scoring in the first period, racing into an 18-0 lead.

Al Bashayer improved significantly in the second quarter and managed to respond with 21 points, but Nizwa maintained their composure and added 14 points of their own to take a 32-21 lead into half-time. The third quarter was more evenly contested, with Al Bashayer edging the period 10-9, but Nizwa remained in control at 41-31 going into the final quarter.


Nizwa then finished strongly, adding 12 points against Al Bashayer’s 11 to complete an 11-point victory.


Ahmed al Khusaibi led the scoring for Nizwa with 10 points, while Omar al Rashdi added 9, Moataz al Rashdi contributed 7, and Al Muthanna al Rashdi scored 5. For Al Bashayer, Redha al Riyami delivered an outstanding performance with 23 points, while Elyas al Busaidy added 9.

SEEB BEAT AL AMERAT 53-36 TO KEEP PRESSURE ON LEADERS NIZWA


In the second match, Seeb secured a convincing 53-36 win over Al Amerat in a competitive encounter. Seeb were the better side in the opening two quarters, using quick transitions, accurate shooting and disciplined defending to establish control. They took the first quarter 15-8 and followed it with another strong period, outscoring Al Amerat 18-11 to lead 33-19 at the break.


Al Amerat showed improvement in the third quarter and narrowed the gap slightly by winning the period 11-9, but Seeb regained control in the final quarter, adding 11 points to Al Amerat’s 8 to seal a deserved win.


Saif al Mughairi was Seeb’s standout performer with 31 points, while Mohammed al Ajmi added 16 and Furqan al Balushi contributed 6. For Al Amerat, Moaz al Battashi scored 14 points, while Mulham al Owaisi finished with 7.


The latest round confirmed the strong form of both Nizwa and Seeb as the battle at the top of the table continues to take shape.
