IBRA: The third scientific forum for postgraduate students in legal studies was held on Saturday in Ibra, Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, with the participation of postgraduate law students from various higher education institutions across Oman.
The forum aims to support scientific research and empower young researchers, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in building a knowledge-based society capable of addressing contemporary legal challenges.
Dr Khalid bin Abdullah al Khamisi, Chairman of the Forum’s Scientific Committee, said the event reflects the commitment of the College of Law at the A'Sharqiyah University to strengthening legal research and its role in developing the legislative system and reinforcing justice and the rule of law.
He noted that the committee received more than 24 peer-reviewed research papers covering three main themes: public law, private law, and personal status law. The submissions were evaluated through academic arbitration based on originality, objectivity and adherence to research methodology standards.
The forum also featured 10 scientific presentations on diverse legal topics, presented by postgraduate students from the College of Law at the A'Sharqiyah University, law colleges from other Omani universities, as well as members of the Supreme Judicial Council.
Discussions at the forum focused on the importance of legal and jurisprudential research in addressing emerging issues within the legislative system. It also highlighted key legal challenges requiring deeper academic study, including civil and commercial aspects of private law, public law and public freedoms and personal status law. — ONA
