NIZWA: The Traffic Safety Exhibition, held as part of the Gulf Traffic Week 2026 under the theme 'Cross Safely', concluded in Al Aqur, marking the end of three days of interactive awareness activities aimed at promoting road safety across the community.
Organised by the Royal Oman Police, represented by the Directorate-General of Traffic in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the exhibition attracted a wide and diverse audience, including families, students, and members of the public. The strong turnout reflected a growing public awareness of the importance of traffic safety and responsible road behaviour.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors engaged with a variety of educational and interactive corners designed to deliver impactful safety messages. These included traffic awareness booths, accident-simulation experiences demonstrating the consequences of reckless driving, and a dedicated children’s corner focused on instilling safe road habits through simplified, engaging methods. Visual presentations and educational materials further reinforced key safety concepts.
Lieutenant Colonel Eng Saud bin Said al Hajri, Director of Traffic in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said, “Traffic safety does not begin with traffic signals alone, but rather stems from individual conscience and awareness. The slogan 'Cross Safely' embodies a firm conviction and a calm voice aimed at protecting lives and making the road a place that respects everyone, far removed from the numbers and statistics that conceal human tragedies and dreams that were halted due to accidents that could have been avoided."
A visitor, Ahmed al Hinai, described his experience at the exhibition as impactful. “The accident simulation was particularly striking. It made me realise how a single moment of distraction can lead to serious consequences. It’s different when you see it and feel it, not just hear about it," he said.
During the exhibition, a series of awareness initiatives were conducted across the governorate, including lectures and programmes at the University of Nizwa, Nizwa Hospital, and in the wilayats of Al Hamra and Bahla, ensuring that the campaign reached a broader segment of society.
The Gulf Traffic Week continues to serve as a vital platform for reinforcing adherence to traffic laws and promoting safer road environments, thereby protecting lives and property and advancing a more responsible and aware community.
