NIZWA: Al Dakhiliyah Governorate welcomed visitors to the Nizwa Public Park during its trial opening, marking the launch of a landmark project spanning 150,000 square metres. The development features 24 investment opportunities and achieves 50 per cent local content, supporting economic activity and enhancing quality of life.

The project reflects the governorate’s vision of developing integrated urban destinations that combine recreation with investment potential.

It offers an attractive environment for both visitors and investors, opening new avenues for tourism and service-sector growth while generating direct and indirect employment opportunities.

As part of efforts to strengthen local content and empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs), contracts worth approximately RO 800,000 were awarded to SMEs during the implementation phase.

Shaikh Mahmoud bin Rashid al Saadi, Acting Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, said the park represents a significant addition to the governorate’s urban infrastructure, providing a comprehensive community space that enhances quality of life. He noted that the project has been designed in line with modern sustainability standards while reflecting local identity.

He added that the park includes over 25,000 square metres of green spaces, more than 530 trees, and an artificial lake covering 4,542 square metres, creating an appealing natural setting for visitors.

The park also features a range of recreational and sports facilities, including dedicated children’s areas, fitness zones, an indoor electronic games hall, and a picnic forest offering a tranquil environment for families.

Highlighting its educational and cultural dimensions, Al Saadi said the project incorporates an educational medical park and a public library, reinforcing its role as a comprehensive destination that blends leisure with learning and promotes community awareness.

He explained that the trial opening aims to assess operational readiness and gather visitor feedback to further enhance services ahead of the official launch.

Al Saadi affirmed that the project aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, contributing to improved quality of life, urban sustainability, and the creation of an attractive environment for investment and tourism. The development is expected to strengthen Nizwa’s position as a vibrant destination that integrates recreation, culture and economic opportunity. – ONA
