Muscat: Ministry of Health Oman said healthy life expectancy at birth in the Sultanate reached 66.07 years in 2023, marking steady progress towards national health targets under Oman Vision 2040.

The figure surpasses the global average of 63.1 years, as well as the Middle East and North Africa average of 62.7 years.

Data shows that Oman’s healthy life expectancy stood at 63.58 years in 2020, declined to 62.74 years in 2021, before rising to 65.51 years in 2022 and further improving in 2023.

The Sultanate aims to reach 67 years by 2030, with projections indicating an increase to 70 years by 2040.

The ministry attributed the data to estimates from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life and healthcare outcomes across the country.
