

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace on Thursday to Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.
At the outset of the meeting, the guest conveyed the greetings of King Maha Vajiralongkorn of the Kingdom of Thailand, to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people.
On his turn, His Majesty asked the guest to convey his greetings to the King of Thailand and the people of his country.
During the audience, the guest conveyed the appreciation of his government and the Thai people for the Sultanate of Oman's prompt responsiveness and constructive humanitarian cooperation in evacuating the crew of the Thai vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
In the context of the friendly relations between Oman and Thailand, the audience addressed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership across various economic and commercial fields that yield greater mutual benefits and interests, as well as to deepen cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
The audience also touched upon a number of regional and international issues and developments, along with the repercussions of the current situation on the global economy and the security and safety of maritime navigation.
The guest listened to His Majesty the Sultan's perspective and assessment on these matters, commending His Majesty's wisdom in addressing them through dialogue and in supporting diplomatic and political means to comprehend and resolve their underlying causes and motives.
The audience was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, Warunee Pan-Krajang, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Sultanate of Oman, and Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand. - ONA
