London:  International leaders are set to gather in Paris on Friday in a bid to develop a plan safeguarding freedom of navigation after the end of the ongoing Middle East war, according to British and French officials.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron will co-host the summit, PA Media reported.

A spokesperson for Starmer’s office said the meeting will seek to advance efforts toward a coordinated, independent, multilateral plan to secure international maritime navigation immediately after the conflict ends.

Macron has previously said that countries joining the initiative would operate a purely defensive mission, separate from the warring parties, and that it would be activated as soon as conditions allow.
